I love being outside and ever since childhood have had a strong bond with nature and growing. It seemed only natural that I would make my career out of something that I enjoyed so much.

ABOUT RICHARD

Richard has spent the last 25 years working in horticulture in Cambridge and the surrounding villages. He trained at Cambridge University Botanic Garden in 1992 and went on to study garden design at Merrist Wood College, Surrey in 2001.

After spending several years working for other companies, notably as landscape foreman at Hinxton Hall, he set up his own business in 1999. Over the past 20 years he has built up a reputation as a trusted expert and experienced plantsman. He has written a monthly editorial in the local Listing magazine for over 7 years and gives garden talks when busy family life allows.

A well thought out design will delineate the space in a garden but planting is what brings a space to life. To engage with a space throughout the changing seasons is such a basic human instinct and something we all need to make more time for in our busy lives. The positive effect of green space on our mental health, wellbeing and happiness is well documented but it should be a priority to nourish ourselves.
