Our clients acquired the adjacent field to the garden of their cosy cottage and the views across the landscape are unbroken. This design is all about the sight lines across the garden and out to the terrain beyond.
The uninspiring extension to the cottage was transformed with the addition of a large oak and stone-walled pergola and patio, extending the living space dramatically. The addition of a detachable simple canopy provides shade when needed and a sunken patio gives shelter from the prevailing wind. A large pond lies out to the landscape, the clients wished to take on the task of planting it up themselves, and decided to enlist the help of Women With Waders who have done a lovely job. A pair of friendly ducks have been welcomed, which may mean some reduction in the plant and general pond life, but is all good fun nonetheless.
